Make That First Trek Legendary – Let Us Fund It

March 10, 2026

Ever felt stuck in the loop of work, commute, and repeat? A short break won’t help—but a trek just might.

Trekking India gives you more than great photos. It offers silence, air that smells fresh, and time to reconnect—with yourself. You don’t need pro gear or years of experience. A good beginner trek, the right shoes, and basic stamina are enough to get started.

But here’s the honest part—adventure travel isn’t always cheap. Even a budget trek comes with hidden expenses: buses, food, warm clothes, guides, or gear. If you’re traveling alone, splitting costs becomes tricky.

That’s where a small digital loan can bridge the gap. No stress, no drama. Just money when you need it, so your first mountain trip doesn’t turn into another “maybe next year”.

In this blog, I’ve covered 5 treks that are beginner-friendly, solo-doable, and honestly priced. And one of them—Kheerganga—is from my personal experience.

Triund Trek: Perfect Beginner Trek with Mountain Views

Triund, just above Mcleodganj, is where most people start their trekking India journey. It’s an ideal beginner trek with forest trails, sharp views, and an open sky at the top. You can go up and down in a day or stay the night in a tent and stargaze.

You’ll find many local trekking packages that include meals and camping. But if you want to do it solo, that’s possible too.

How to reach from Delhi:

Take a night bus to McLeod Ganj (around ₹900 one way). Reach Gallu Devi temple by local cab or walk, and begin your climb.

Estimated Solo Budget:

  • Bus travel: ₹1,800
  • Camp stay: ₹700
  • Food/snacks: ₹500
  • Local transfers and extras: ₹500

Total: ₹3,500 approx.

Note: Budget shown is for a solo traveller. Grouping up reduces cost.

Kheerganga Trek: Author’s Recommendation

If you’re going to pick just one trek to start your trekking India journey, I’d recommend Kheerganga. Not because it’s short. Not because it’s on every list. But because I’ve done it myself—and it truly delivers.

The trail gives you forest walks, wooden bridges, river crossings, and a hot spring bath right at the top. It’s not just a budget trek; it’s a complete travel experience. And the best part? You won’t feel alone for long.

On my solo trip, I met two fellow travellers on the bus. We shared cabs, food, and laughs and ended up finishing the trek together. That’s the magic of outdoor adventure—it connects you without effort.

How to reach from Delhi:

Take a bus from Delhi to Bhuntar (₹1,500 one-way approx.). You need to take a cab from Bhuntar to Kasol for your stay. And from Bhuntar to Barshaini, the shared cab cost us around ₹3,000 total both sides. We split it, but if you’re on your own, it’ll cost more. From Barshaini, the trek to the top is around 12 km. Takes 4–5 hours with steady breaks.

Estimated Solo Budget:

  • Travel (Delhi to Bhuntar and back): ₹3,000
  • Bhuntar to Barshaini and back (solo rate): ₹3,000
  • Camp + meals at the top: ₹1,900
  • Trek snacks (Maggi, chai, water): ₹600
  • Local travel (Kasol, Manikaran, buffer): ₹2,000

Total: ₹10,500 approx.

But this doesn’t include extra days, shopping, emergencies, or a room stay before/after the trek. If you want comfort, backup, or flexibility:

Minimum budget to plan well: ₹20,000

Note: This is based on my personal solo trip. The budget is calculated with single-person travel costs. You may spend less if you find company on the way or adjust your stay options.

Deoriatal–Chandrashila: Himalayan Sunrise and a Strong Travel Experience

This is more than a mountain trip. It’s a deep walk-through silence. You start from Sari village, pass Deoriatal Lake, and climb all the way to Chandrashila peak. If you’re lucky, the sunrise will show you Chaukhamba and Kedarnath standing tall. The trek is peaceful but a little long. Still, it’s a doable beginner trek with basic prep.

You’ll need warm clothes, maybe rented gear, and local help. Many trekking packages cover this trek, but you can DIY the whole plan if you want freedom.

How to reach from Delhi:

Take a bus/train to Haridwar (₹600 one way). From there, ride to Sari via Ukhimath. Shared jeeps are available but slower.

Estimated Solo Budget:

  • Travel: ₹3,000
  • Stay: ₹1,500
  • Food: ₹800
  • Gear and local rides: ₹700

Total: ₹6,000 approx.

Note: Travel costs are for one. Add a buffer for stay, weather, and extra meals.

Nag Tibba: Easy Mountain Trip for a Quick Weekend Escape

Nag Tibba is one of those short, perfect getaways. It’s not crowded. The trail is clean. It gives a snowy view in winter and takes just 2 days.

You don’t need any guide. Camps are available at the top. This is an outdoor adventure made for people who can’t take long leaves but still want the thrill of trekking.

How to reach from Delhi:

Take a train/bus to Dehradun (₹500 one way). Then travel to Pantwari village by cab (around ₹700). Start the trek there.

Estimated Solo Budget:

  • Delhi-Dehradun round trip: ₹1,000
  • Pantwari transfer: ₹1,400
  • Camp stay: ₹600
  • Meals and snacks: ₹600

Total: ₹4,000 approx.

Note: If you camp with others or arrange a carpool, the cost reduces.

Kareri Lake: Scenic Trails, Fewer People, and Real Peace

Kareri Lake is calm and less touristy. If you’re someone who needs space to think, write, or just breathe—it’s your place. The trail follows a river. The lake is fed by snowmelt and reflects the sky above it.

This outdoor adventure isn’t noisy or commercial. No crowds. Just you and the hills. It’s a gentle trek but you’ll feel like you’ve earned every view.

How to reach from Delhi:

Overnight bus to Dharamshala (₹900 one way). Take a shared cab or local ride to Kareri village.

Estimated Solo Budget:

  • Travel: ₹3,000
  • Stay: ₹800
  • Food: ₹700
  • Transfers and extras: ₹500

Total: ₹5,000 approx.

Note: This budget is solo-friendly. Group costs can bring it down.
